Debug-It

Reflection

Today in computer apps we debugged some programs on Scratch. To fix these, my partner and I looked inside the project to see what was wrong. Based on the program and what the goal of the program was, we added a few things to make the program work. Looking at what is there first is a good way to fix it. Just reading what the person needs help with isn't enough. You should first study the presented program (the one that needs fixing) then think about different ways to fix it and then fix it.

These are the projects I had to fix:

Debug-It 1.1: <iframe allowtransparency="true" width="485" height="402" src="http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/embed/22923909/?autostart=false" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Scratch Reflection

1. What was surprising?
-Not much really. I'm taking a computer programming course at the same time so I've done scratch multiple times before.
2. How did you feel about being led step-by-step throughout the activity?
-I kind of liked being led step by step because it explains everything and gives you examples of how and when to use the blocks.
3. As a learner:
  • when do you like having more structure?
  • when do you like having more freedom?
  • when do you feel the most creative?
-I like having more structure when I'm trying to learn something completely new.
-I like having more freedom as I get more comfortable with the program.
-I 'm most creative when the topic is kind of vague, like do "what you want but you must include several things" type of thing. It lets me feel more free to do something I like and the freedom lets my creativity and imagination flourish.

How Music and Art Impacted My Life

Music

Music is a really big part of my life. I played the violin and the flute when I was younger. Even though I didn't enjoy them that much, they helped me focus and keep calm. I'm able to feel the music and it keeps me calm. Now that I don't play an instrument, I tend o listen to my iPod frequently. My taste of music is very widely ranged to fit my mood at any given time of he day. Music has really helped me through some really tough times in my life.

Art

Art lets me express my self and communicate with others when I don't want to talk. It too allows me to calm myself. Being an artist brings the creative side out of me; it makes me look at the world in a whole new way. Like music, my art style is widely varied to fit the project assignment and the appropriate mood I want the art piece to give.

How it changed my life

Music and art were there to comfort me when no one was. The people behind to arts have inspired me to be the person I want to be and not give a care about what others think of me: Demi Lovato, Eminem, Becky G, and so much more. Demi taught me to be strong. Eminem taught me that even though I know someone as a person, I don't know their past and what they've been through. I can only judge once I know all of that and maybe I'll never know any of that. Becky G taught me to be proud of my heritage and be proud of who I am. All the artists, artistically speaking, have inspired me to use my creativity and art talents to help inspire others. These people have literally saved my life when nobody around me could.

Changed my school's webpage. My school's not really fun or interesting. I put a batman sign and changed some of the words. I really didn't know what I was doing, but it's kind of fun.
